Radio Practice August 8th at The Presidio

August 3rd, 2015

2MCM Radio Practice Friends,

I know there are a lot of other things to do in San Francisco this weekend and I hope everyone takes advantage of some of them.

For those of you who choose to meet Saturday at The Presidio Main Post Lawn, for the 2MCM Radio Practice, I want to remind you to take advantage of the offer Joe WA3TSP has made for us to download, for free, his QSO Party Logging software and a brief users “manual”.

Joe will be at the practice Saturday to tell us more about it.  Go to: http://www.sfsunset.com/logger

To recap:

Saturday August 8th, 1000 hrs to 1200 hrs, at The Presidio, we will learn what a QSO party is, and get a chance to practice QSO’ing.  QSO — A conversation between two radio amateurs.

Then on August 29th, the SFRC sponsored 2 Meter QSO Party will provide an excellent opportunity for us to use what we have learned, talk to a lot of other amateur radio operators; all on the 2 Meter Band, using our little handheld radios!

Give yourselves a little extra time to travel to The Presidio.

I have never taken MUNI there, but here is what I found on The Presidio’s website: Several SF MUNI routes provide service to or near the Presidio (1, 28, 28L, 29, 41, 43, and 45).

Parking at the Presidio: http://www.presidio.gov/transportation/Pages/parking.aspx

Parking permits can be purchased from a Pay-and-Display pay station or meter.  The cost for hourly parking permits is $1.20/hour and capped at $7/day. All pay stations accept credit and debit cards, and many accept coins. Paid parking regulations are enforced by the United States Park Police. Please pay careful attention to signage.

I hope to see you there,
